Applications are open for the VIII All-Russian Competition of Innovative Journalism which is designed to encourage and stimulate the activities of journalists and media involved in covering innovation processes in Russia. The contest also helps to attract the attention of broad sections of society to the issues of innovative development of Russia.
To raise the prestige of science and popularize successful examples of the commercialization of scientific developments, including among young people, a communication tool is needed that focuses on the tasks of promoting scientific knowledge, transferring it to the economy, creating technological businesses and promoting innovative production, clarifying the finer points of the financial mechanisms of the venture market.
Objectives
The objectives of the Competition are:
- Encouraging and stimulating the activities of journalists and media involved in the coverage of innovation, science and technology in Russia.
- Promoting the formation of a community of journalists covering the topic of innovation, science and technology; orienting beginning journalists to this field of activity, raising the status of innovative journalism.
- Development of professional competencies of journalists in issues of coverage of innovative eco-system, formation of editorial guidelines – samples of reference content, first of all, to improve the quality of coverage of innovative topics in regional media.
- To attract the attention of the general public, especially at the regional level, to the achievements of science, to new effective technologies created on their basis, to the development of innovative processes in education, science, industry and the social sphere, to the commercialization of science and technology achievements, new technological markets.
- Creation of a platform for expert analysis and assessment of the status of the topic of innovation in the Russian media.
- Promoting public recognition of the contribution of the media to the technological development of the country.
- Increase in the number of quality journalistic materials on the topic of innovation, science and technology.
Themes
- Track 1st – Life Sciences
- In this area, the jury will evaluate journalistic work related both to the scientific component of biotechnology, bioengineering, neurobiology, genetics, molecular biology and related fields, and their applied side.
- Track 2nd – Hydrogen Energy
- In this area, the jury will evaluate journalistic works describing the future of energy, alternative energy sources, their applicability in Russian conditions, best practices in the use of new energy.
- Track 3rd – Philanthropy and Technology
- In this subject, the jury will evaluate journalistic materials devoted to socially significant digital projects, thanks to which people get equal access to information, opportunities and resources.
- Track 4th Venture Business
- In this subject, the jury will evaluate journalistic work related to the venture business, foundations and development institutions both in Russia and abroad.
Prize Information
The prize fund of the Contest in 2018 is distributed to:
- 100 thousand rubles for the first place,
- 30 thousand rubles for the second place and
- 10 thousand rubles for the third place in each nomination in accordance with the tracks of the Contest.
Eligibility Criteria
- Professional journalists, full-time and freelance journalists who have published works in registered central and regional media – TV channels, radio stations, print media with any frequency of publication, Internet media with a media license.
