Call for Entries: European Press Prize

Call for Nominations: Human Rights Activist of the Year Prize 2023 – Kosovo

Deadline: 14-Dec-2025

Applications are now open for the European Press Prize to invite journalists from across Europe to showcase impactful works that exemplify the highest standards of the profession.

The European Press Prize accepts entries in five categories: Distinguished Reporting, Innovation, Investigative Reporting, Public Discourse and Migration Journalism. It honours investigative reporting that exposes hidden truths in the public interest, distinguished reporting that combines depth with compelling storytelling, and public discourse pieces that spark meaningful debate and reflection.

The prize also celebrates innovation that pushes the boundaries of journalism through new ideas and approaches, and migration journalism that deepens understanding of migration and challenges prejudice. In addition, the judges may bestow a special award for exceptional contributions to European journalism.

Each award is for 10,000 euros, to be spent wherever possible on a personal project that may, in turn, enrich the practice of journalism. The judges are also empowered to award a special prize for particular excellence.

Journalists from all 46 countries of Europe as defined by the Council of Europe, along with Belarus and Russia, are eligible to participate. Entries are open to journalists with a European nationality, those working on the European continent, or those affiliated with a European media organisation.

Each entrant may submit one article per person per category, except for the Public Discourse Award, where up to three pieces may be entered. Articles must not exceed 5,000 words, and text should form the main part of the submission, as non-written formats such as podcasts or films are not eligible.

Entries must be submitted in the language of the original publication, accompanied by an English translation—professional or machine-generated. Applicants are also required to agree that any AI use in their work has been transparent, ethical, and responsible.

The submission form requests personal details, project information, methodology, impact, and supporting materials such as article files, translation documents, and referee information.

The deadline for applications is 14 December 2025.
