The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Dakar office seeks to contract with an organization capable of Developing of Online Fact-Checking Platform & Training of Media Professionals in Fact-Checking program.
The Peace Building Fund project “Young Women and Men as Stakeholders in Ensuring Peaceful Democratic Processes and Advocates for the Prevention of Violence and Hate Speech” is being implemented by UN System in The Gambia as a part of the response to such challenges affecting community cohesion. The project also seeks to empower young people with Media and information literacy skills so they can engage ethically with information and media, mainly social media.
As part of the implementation of this project, it is planned to build the capacity of media professionals in debunking disinformation and misinformation through training in fact-checking and to establish a national online participative fact-checking platform.
Objectives
Within the framework of this Request for Proposals, the UNESCO Dakar office seeks to contract with an organization capable of:
- Developing and setting up a fact-checking platform in The Gambia, including the training of end-users;
- Conducting the train of 30 media professionals (at least 10 women) in fact-checking techniques.
Tasks to be Performed
- Set up a fact-checking platform for the Gambia and train end-users;
- Train media professionals in debunking misinformation.
Deliverables
- Detailed implemented plan and budget for all activities;
- A document describing and detailing features of the platform;
- Short promotional video for uploading or submitting content to the platform for fact-checking;
- The facilitators and consultant list for each workshop;
- The participants list for each workshop;
- Detailed technical report for each workshop;
- Detailed financial report for each workshop;
- The site is up and running.
Application Criteria
To participate in the call for proposals, the applicant entity must submit:
- A technical proposal detailing the methodology for the organization of the workshop and the creation of the fact-checking platform;
- A detailed budget proposal;
- Any document demonstrating relevant experience in the organization of similar activities;
- An example of a technical and financial report developed for previous projects;
- An example of web site (share the link) developed;
- CVs of human resources to be involved;
- Sample of works in the domain.
