Hivos East Africa is inviting interested organizations to receive funding, support and training tailored to their capacities and needs to effectively implement the PROTECT program.
Hivos aims to support partner organizations to adapt new capacities that will enable them to not only achieve PROTECT outcomes but also contribute to PROTECT goals. The non-funded support includes mentoring, trainings, expert advice and support on data management, networking and project management.
Hivos in a consortium with ARTICLE 19, Internews and the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is implementing the Protecting Rights, Openness and Transparency Enhancing Civic Transformation (PROTECT) program.
PROTECT is a four year program that seeks to foster open societies based on an expanded and protected civic space. The program is working on shifting the paradigm from unequal and closed societies towards free and open societies with civil society including media organisations to hold governments to account.
PROTECT seeks to produce practical evidence on challenges facing open societies to inform other activities; support locally driven multi-stakeholder coalitions to bridge the supply-demand gap of data and support infomediaries and media to contextualise and ‘translate’ complex data into actionable information for broader segments of society and marginalized groups to act upon.
Criteria
To qualify for this call for proposals, you are a remarkable non-profit organization that demonstrates:
- A clear, long-term vision and action plan to solve a specific problem related to transparency and accountability.
- A track record in influencing policy around good governance specifically in transparency and accountability in public service delivery at the national and/or county levels.
- An ability to tackle a specific problem in a chosen sectoral focus areas.
- A clear working record on advocacy, citizen engagement, research and capacity building for public participation, transparency and accountability.
- Engagement record with both state and non-state actors at national and/or county levels.
