The Explorers Club is inviting applications for its Exodus Exploration without Boundaries Grant Program to fund expeditions that further their understanding of the world through scientific, cultural and conservation fieldwork, led by explorers who may have taken alternative routes to acquire the skills necessary to conduct their research.
Explorers are extraordinary individuals who set themselves apart in the pursuit of knowledge, and now applications are open to support explorers and advance the spirit of exploration around the globe. Open to researchers of all skill levels who are 18 or older. Particular interest may be taken in projects led by indigenous explorers, or that benefit and amplify the work of indigenous explorers.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to download the form as a worksheet before filling it online. Completing the online form may take at least 45 minutes, and information will not be saved if the browser is closed before submission.
Project titles should remain concise, avoiding overly technical language while ensuring clarity for reviewers from diverse backgrounds. While projects may be multidisciplinary, applicants should select the predominant category, with further explanation provided later in the application. A clear project description is required, outlining background, goals, methodologies, intended outcomes, and potential cultural or environmental impact, while avoiding jargon and abbreviations.
Applicants may upload supplementary materials such as images, video, or maps, and two letters of support are required to complete the file. Ethical concerns must be carefully addressed, as these will be given close consideration in the review process. In addition, grantees must secure any necessary permits before conducting fieldwork, providing details on their status and submitting copies when available. The Explorers Club cannot consider proposals for work being conducted in China or by Chinese citizens due to current NGO restrictions. The application deadline is Monday, October 13, 2025, at 6:00 PM EST.
