CFAs: Global Feminist Tech and Innovation Lab for Women’s Rights

UK: Women’s Urgent Support Fund (Round 1)

Deadline: 15-Oct-2025

The UN Women is now accepting applications for developing and roll out a Global Feminist Technology and Innovation Lab for women’s rights organizations and activists.

The focus is on equipping these organizations with research, tools, and strategies that improve their online safety and resilience. By supporting evidence-based advocacy and fostering cross-sector collaboration, the initiative seeks to build strong coalitions and amplify the fight against digital gender-based violence.

One key goal is to help women’s rights groups leverage technology and innovation to support their advocacy and movement-building efforts. This includes equipping activists with new skills and tools to harness technological advancements continuously. The initiative encourages co-creation, sharing, and testing of innovative solutions that back effective advocacy and programmatic work.

Collaboration across sectors is another core priority. The initiative aims to strengthen alliances between experts focused on ending violence against women (EVAW) and those specializing in digital rights and technology. By bridging these fields, it hopes to foster holistic approaches to combating TFVAWG.

A critical part of the work involves building a knowledge base of successful interventions and the metrics used to measure their impact. This evidence will help inform global prevention and response strategies, ensuring that actions are grounded in solid data and best practices.

The initiative will develop and roll out the ACT Global Feminist Technology and Innovation Lab, a platform designed to build capacity and facilitate innovation. Activities will include training, resource development, and assessment of strengthened organizational capacities.

The project focuses on two main areas: enhancing the ability of women’s rights groups to prevent and respond to technology-facilitated violence, and leveraging technology advancements to advance advocacy efforts on ending violence against women. Funding is available with a maximum budget of $55,000 USD for each focus area, with the initiative scheduled to run from November 2025 through June 2026.

Eligible applicants include civil society organizations, academic institutions, or consortia with expertise in technology, innovation, advocacy, and gender equality. Applicants should have a strong track record in capacity building, particularly related to online safety, digital resilience, and addressing gender-based violence using both traditional and innovative data sources.

Experience with cross-country data collection and analysis, designing practical toolkits, and using digital tools like AI and big data to support feminist advocacy are highly valued. The ability to foster multi-stakeholder engagement and partnerships at global, regional, and national levels is also essential.

The initiative emphasizes ethical standards, ensuring safe and inclusive spaces for feminist organizations and activists. Privacy, security, and survivor-centered approaches are central to all activities. Strong communication skills in English are required, with knowledge of French and Spanish considered an asset.

This initiative represents a significant opportunity to empower women’s rights organizations worldwide by combining technological innovation with feminist advocacy to address one of the most pressing challenges of our digital age.f
