Submissions open for IBRO Parenthood Grants

#grants_for_artists

Deadline: 15-Aug-2025

The International Brain Research Organization Parenthood Grants support early career researchers by providing funds to cover research-related expenses. These can include reagents, facility costs, outsourcing experiments or data acquisition, and transportation of non-commercial samples or reagents. The grant also helps with travel and child-care costs for attending conferences, as well as grant writing or consultation services.

Funding amounts vary by region and are determined by the IBRO Regional Committee. Applicants from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the US/Canada can request up to $3,000 USD, while those in Pan Europe may request up to $4,000 USD. Projects must be completed within one year of the start date, with a final report due within three months of completion.

Eligible applicants are early career principal investigators with a maximum of seven years in their role. Extended breaks from research, such as maternity or adoption leave, are accepted if justified. Applicants must have at least one peer-reviewed publication as a corresponding author. Either the applicant or their partner must be pregnant (at least four months), have given birth within the last four months, or be close to adoption while assuming primary caregiving responsibilities.

Applications are evaluated based on eligibility, scientific credentials, research proposal quality, justification of the award’s impact, and the clarity of the funding request. The application requires details about the applicant’s academic background, grants received, a detailed research proposal, motivation and impact statement, budget breakdown, CV, and confirmation of PI status from the institution. Proof of pregnancy, birth, or adoption must be provided, and applicants must agree to IBRO’s terms and conditions.
