Deadline: 27-February-2026
Applications are now open for the Gen Foundation Grant Program to enhance the importance of cross-cultures between Japan and the rest of the world in today’s global society.
The Gen Foundation provides one-off, non-renewable awards to individual students and researchers who demonstrate excellence in their respective fields. The Foundation follows a strong diversity policy, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates irrespective of colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex, marital status or gender reassignment, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
The amount of each grant is determined at the discretion of the Trustees, based on the merits of each application. Grants are usually paid in Sterling Pounds by cheque within the UK, while successful candidates residing outside the UK may receive payments through wire transfers.
Eligibility for the Gen Foundation grant requires applicants to be engaged in study or research in the field of natural sciences, particularly food sciences or technology, and to hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
The Foundation does not consider applications for undergraduate studies, short-term training, conferences, seminars, or thesis writing. Applications must be completed in English, typed (not handwritten), and submitted with all required supporting documents no later than 27th February 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applicants must submit a complete application form with a recent passport-sized photograph, an up-to-date curriculum vitae in English, two original and signed letters of reference (in English or Japanese), and evidence of acceptance by an organisation or institution, which may include a conditional letter.
The selection process involves shortlisting candidates based on their submitted applications, followed by interviews conducted by the Trustees to make the final decision.
