Nominations are now open for the Transformative Action Award 2022.
The Transformative Action Award, co-organised by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and the City of Aalborg (Denmark), with support from the European Committee of the Regions and the European Investment Bank, is given to a city, region or civil society organisation that uses the 15 pathways outlined in the Basque Declaration to catalyse a socio-cultural, socio-economic or technological transformation in their community, in addition to furthering the implementation of the European Green Deal at local level.
Submission is open to local or regional authorities or organisations that are developing or executing Transformative Actions that:
- Further the implementation of the European Green Deal locally (Local Green Deals), by
- Spearheading core systemic changes and bold policy shifts for the sustainable transformation of societies.
Rewards for the Winner
- €10.000 to kick-start a Transformative Action in your city, region or municipality
- Action showcased on the Sustainable Cities Platform and social media channels
- Promotion through the ICLEI website, ICLEI Europe e-newsletter and social media channels
- Publicity in publications related to sustainable development
- A trophy and the right to be called ‘Transformative Action of the year 2022’
- Digital ‘Transformative Action of the year 2022’ icon for use on websites, social media accounts and in email signature
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to any local or regional authority, or civil society organisation located in an EU Member State, EEA country or EU candidate or accession country that has endorsed the Mannheim Message. Endorsing the Mannheim Message only takes a few minutes and can be done on the official website,
- The applicant must be responsible for the implementation of the Transformative Action and the Action must have been in place for at least three months, but no longer than five years, at the time of submission. All applications must be submitted in English.
