If you have a great idea that could benefit people in the City of Ryde, a City of Ryde Community Grant may be able to assist you.
The City of Ryde Community Grants provide opportunities for not-for-profit community organisations and groups, sporting clubs and in some cases, individuals to receive funding for projects which benefit the community.
Grant Categories
- Small Grant
- Funding up to $2,500
- Total funding pool: $20,000 per year
- Small grants are designed to respond to projects that are of community benefit and fall outside of the standard grant categories or large grant rounds.
- Arts and Creativity
- Funding up to $5,000
- Total funding pool: $20,000 per year
- Arts and creativity grants are open to not-for-profit groups and individuals to support community-led programs and projects that stimulate creative and cultural expression in the City of Ryde.
- Community Facilities and Equipment
- Funding up to $5,000
- Total funding pool: $20,000 per year
- Community facilities and equipment grants are to providing funding for small scale capital works and the purchase of equipment to provide support and benefit to the community.
- Community Wellbeing
- Major, Medium and Small sub-categories are available with funding up to $15,000 with a matched contribution.
- Total funding pool: $200,000 per year
- Community wellbeing grants are for projects that develop a connected and inclusive community and support activities that promote health, community safety, accessibility and liveability in the area.
- Events
- Major, Medium and Small sub-categories are available with funding up to $15,000 with a matched contribution
- Total funding pool: $100,000 per year
- Events grants are to support activities that deliver community-based festivals and events which showcase the diversity and rich culture of the City of Ryde.
- Sport and Recreation
- Funding up to $5,000
- Total funding pool: $20,000 per year
- Sport and recreation grants are to increase participation in sporting and recreational activities, primarily at a community level.
- Venue Hire
- Funding up to $5,000
- Total funding pool: $20,000 per year
- Venue hire grants provide financial assistance to community groups to access Council’s hireable halls and meeting rooms.
Eligible Projects
- Projects or activities which closely align with the City of Ryde Community Plans such as the Community Strategic Plan, Social Plan, Creativity Strategy, Reconciliation Action Plan or Disability Inclusion Action Plan
- Collaborations or partnerships with others to deliver your project
- Evidence the project will increase the capacity of your group to deliver benefits to people in the City of Ryde
- Activities that are sustainable in the longer term and not reliant on ongoing Council funding
- Activities that are socially inclusive of all members of the City of Ryde community
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for grant funding an organisation must:
- Be located within the City of Ryde or primarily service Ryde residents
- Be open to the general public, inclusive and not discriminatory
- Have acquitted previous City of Ryde funding and not have outstanding debts to the City of Ryde
- Commence the project after the grant funding commencement date. Grants cannot provide retrospective, recurrent or ongoing funding
- Complete an acquittal within two months of completing the project. This must be within 14 months of the grant commencement date.
- Applicants must commit to the City of Ryde Waste Wise Guidelines
- Applicants must publicly acknowledge City of Ryde’s contribution and provide evidence of this in the acquittal documentation
- An organisation is eligible to submit an application plus act as an auspice in the same round
- An organisation can auspice up to one application per round
- Applications for grants over $5,000 require audited organisation financial details (no more than 2 years old)
- Quotes/estimates for budget items over $1,000 must be provided
Ineligibility
The following are not eligible for City of Ryde grants:
- Projects that duplicate existing programs
- Sole-traders (except in some cases for the Arts and Creativity Category) or for-profit activities
- Fundraising, sponsorship or projects seeking prize money or gifts for attendees
- Religious activities that promote a single faith as the main purpose
- Political parties, schools (including P&C activities that primarily benefit a particular school), tertiary institutions or government organisations
- Attendance at conferences or academic course fees
- Funding for ongoing operational expenses e.g. Rent, staff wages, insurance, office equipment, IT resources or other ongoing costs (excludes the development of websites for promotional purposes)
- Events held outside of the City of Ryde
- Applicants that have not complied with the Waste Wise Guidelines in the past
- Applicants that have already been funded for the same project within the previous 12-month period
- Applicants that have already received two City of Ryde grants in the past 12 months (excluding auspice arrangements).
