Deadline: 11-Aug-2025
The City of Greater Dandenong is currently accepting applications for its Medium Grants, specifically for individual artists. These grants are designed to support community-based arts and cultural projects, encouraging the development of relationships with the community and the creation of art that addresses community needs.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available. The program aims to support projects that demonstrate strong artistic merit and employ innovative or contemporary approaches in the development or presentation of art. Projects should also increase awareness of local issues, engage the community, attract new audiences, and contribute to the activation of public spaces.
Funding can be used for a range of project-related costs including fees for temporary staff, printing, translation and interpreting services, equipment and venue hire, transport for participants, volunteer expenses, advertising and promotional materials, essential project materials, and public liability insurance.
However, funding will not be provided for projects held primarily outside of Greater Dandenong unless they clearly benefit the local community. Individuals employed by the City of Greater Dandenong, unsafe or illegal activities, projects promoting political or religious beliefs, or general operational costs of an organisation are also ineligible. Additional exclusions include subcontracting the project, re-granting funds, outstanding debts, emergency relief aid, personal equipment, and projects violating the City’s Electronic Gaming Policy or involving capital works.
Eligible applicants must be not-for-profit incorporated associations or legal entities, or be auspiced by one. They must be based in or provide services to the Greater Dandenong community. Applicants should have met past funding conditions and possess current public liability insurance of at least $20 million, or demonstrate alternative coverage for their project.
Projects must be carried out within the program’s specified time frame. Applications from schools are considered only for non-curricular activities that benefit the broader community. Government-affiliated volunteer groups such as the CFA or SES may apply for community engagement projects outside their standard services. Projects with proven success may be considered for funding for more than two consecutive years.
