Deadline: 08-Dec-2025
The Psoriasis Association is inviting applications for the Cecil King Memorial Award, a grant designed to support early-career researchers undertaking projects focused on psoriasis.
The Psoriasis Association will consider applications that have clear relevance to their aims (to promote and fund research into the causes, nature and care of psoriasis and to publish and disseminate the results of that research) and contain a rigorous research focus.
The Cecil King Memorial Award provides up to £10,000 for UK-based researchers who are under 35 years of age or within the first five consecutive years of either their first permanent independent academic research post or a named limited-tenured or fixed-term academic research post obtained in open competition. The tenure of the role must cover the duration of the award. The funding is intended for small or pilot projects, and cannot be used to top up existing grants. Not more than half of the funds may be allocated to purchasing equipment, and the maximum duration of the grant is one year. Successful awards must be activated within twelve months of the award letter, and the funds will be claimed through the institution’s finance department via a single invoice. Upon completion, awardees must submit both a scientific and a lay report.
Applications must clearly outline projects that are technically feasible and achievable within one year. The lay summary is an essential component and must be accessible to non-specialists, as it will be published on the Psoriasis Association website if successful. Applicants must complete the official Cecil King Memorial Award application form without altering its format and submit it as a Word document. Attention to clarity, accuracy, spelling, and limited use of acronyms is crucial in the review process. Late submissions, additional appendices after submission, or excuses for delays will not be accepted. All applications will be acknowledged by email, and the details of successful projects—including project title, research institute, lead applicant, and lay summary—will be made publicly available to promote funded research.
The award is supported by the Cecil King Memorial Foundation and the Psoriasis Association, and appropriate acknowledgements must be made in any related publications or presentations.
