Deadline: 24-Nov-2025
The Novo Nordisk Foundation is inviting applications for its Nature-themed Pedagogical Prize to recognize and highlight special pedagogical efforts within the curriculum theme of nature, outdoor life and science.
The award emphasizes educators who create interest and motivation for science and technology among children, develop, use and share inspiring pedagogical methods for children’s exploration of numbers, nature or science, actively participate in outdoor nature-themed activities and integrate work with nature, outdoor life and science into other curriculum themes, and contribute to promoting a stimulating scientific environment that qualifies colleagues, while recognizing that not all criteria must be met for consideration.
The award is presented once a year and consists of DKK 200,000. This includes a personal honorary prize of DKK 50,000 and DKK 150,000 for the institution. If awarded to a team, each member receives DKK 25,000. The institutional share must be used to develop pedagogical work with the science curriculum theme, such as the purchase of equipment, upgrading of premises or outdoor areas, excursions, or further training.
The award is aimed at educators at daycare institutions in the Kingdom of Denmark who work with science and nature education approaches. This may include investigations and experiments in everyday life where children and adults share attention to natural phenomena and technology. Children, parents and colleagues can suggest candidates, but the nomination must be submitted through the educator’s institution manager or institution board.
Both individual educators and teams of up to three members from the same daycare institution can be nominated, and nominees must agree to their nomination. Recipients of the award cannot be from the same daycare institution for four years following a win. Previously nominated candidates who did not receive the award are welcome to re-nominate.
The deadline for submitting applications is November 24, 2025, at 12:00 noon. Award recipients will be selected by the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Education Awards Committee and will be contacted directly during February 2026. The presentation will take place at a reception at the recipients’ daycare centers.
