Deadline: 2-December-2025
The program focuses on supporting senior doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers pursuing NF research, serving as a seeding mechanism for researchers to secure larger grants such as those from the NIH and CDMRP NFRP. It aims to enable groundbreaking research findings, notable publications, and leadership development within the NF research and clinical communities.
Since its inception, the Young Investigator Award has empowered several researchers to advance their careers and make significant contributions to neurofibromatosis research. The funding supports individuals who demonstrate strong research potential and commitment to NF investigation under the mentorship of senior researchers.
Eligibility for the award requires applicants to be graduate students pursuing an MD, Ph.D., or equivalent degree, or postdoctoral fellows within seven years of completing their first doctoral degree. Each applicant must be affiliated with the laboratory of a senior researcher who will act as their research sponsor and must commit to the minimum effort requirements outlined in the YIA Guidelines. Only one YIA application per laboratory per year will be funded, and no individual may receive more than one postdoctoral YIA in their career. There are no citizenship restrictions for applicants.
