The Golden LEAF Foundation is offering Open Grants Program, it is looking for projects in the following priority areas of Job Creation and Economic Investment; Workforce Preparedness; Agriculture; and Community Competitiveness, Capacity, and Vitality.
The Golden LEAF Foundation is committed to using the funds entrusted to it for projects that show the most potential for strengthening North Carolina’s long-term economy, especially in tobacco-dependent, economically distressed, and/or rural communities.
Golden LEAF awards funding for projects that the Foundation’s Board of Directors believes have extraordinary merit and address the Foundation’s purposes as set forth in its Charter.
Priority Areas
- Job Creation and Economic Investment: Collaborate with EDPNC, N.C. Department of Commerce, local governments, and organizations to provide funding to assist with job creation.
- Workforce Preparedness: Increase the number of qualified individuals with skills aligned with current and future needs of North Carolina businesses. Prepare students with the technical and life skills necessary to enter work.
- Agriculture: Support agriculture as a means of promoting economic development.
- Community Competitiveness, Capacity, and Vitality: Support other opportunities to promote economic development through critical infrastructure and employment of health care professionals.
Funding Information
- Grants in this program are not expected to exceed $200,000.
- The Golden LEAF Board recently approved establishing criteria and an application process for requests for funding of more than $200,000, up to a maximum of $500,000 from this program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and governmental entities can apply.
- Golden LEAF accepts applications from all communities in North Carolina; however, funded projects must benefit tobacco-dependent, economically distressed, and/or rural communities. Applicants can strengthen their proposals by identifying the direct positive effect(s) the project will have on those target communities.
