Applications for Australian Volunteers Program Impact Fund are now open to fund projects that support Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) or the overall strengthening of a partner organisation.
This initiative is intended to help strengthen the capacity and work of existing partner organisations during a time when the program is unable to provide the usual volume of support through in country volunteer assignments.
Priority Areas
- The application process will be competitive. Priority will be given to those applications that support a global spread and meet the criteria including program values and priorities:
- Build capacity
- Ensure sustainable outcomes
- Are ethically sound
- Link clearly to the broader work of your organisation.
- Demonstrate the value of volunteering
- As an organisation that advocates for the value of volunteering, a desirable quality of the application will be the involvement of volunteers in your project. This can include:
- An Australian Volunteer in-country
- An Australian Volunteer working remotely from Australia
- A past Australian Volunteer who you really loved working with, or;
- local volunteers
Funding Information
- The Australian Volunteers Program Impact Fund offers small grants of up to AUD$10,000 to partner organisations of the program.
- In total the available funding for 2021-22 Australian Volunteers Impact Fund is AUD$700,000. Other parameters of the grants are:
- Funding amount for each grant will be up to AUD$10,000
- Projects must be implemented between 30 June 2022, or from when funds are received, and 30 June 2023
- All costs associated with the proposed project or costs should be included in the budget (eg. anticipated International bank fees)
Please note: Grants are made in AUD. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there may be a discrepancy between the equivalent value of your local currency at the time of application and the time of funds transfer.
Eligibility Criteria
- Current or past partner organisations who have hosted a volunteer, including a remote volunteer.
- Partner organisations who meet all due diligence requirements as is required for all active partner organisations of the Australian Volunteers Program
- Partner organisations who can demonstrate they have successfully managed funding/grants in the last five years

- Partner organisations who cannot meet due diligence requirements
