The GEOACT is seeking proposals from Academic and research institutions/organizations for – Mapping & diagnosis of R&I ecosystems, R&I strategy and innovation brokering programme.
The goal of this Call for Proposals (CFP) entitled “Mapping & diagnosis of R&I ecosystems, R&I Strategy and Innovation Brokering” is to fund one excellent multi-partner project aimed at improving their knowledge and understanding of R&I ecosystems at the national and regional level, and facilitating R&I interactions throughout the innovation chain to build a shared vision and strategy of R&I for the Pacific Region.
This project has received funding from the European Union under the ACP Innovation Fund, which is part of the OACPS R&I Programme.
Objectives
- General objective: Improve their knowledge and understanding of R&I ecosystems at the national and regional levels, and facilitate R&I interactions throughout the innovation chain, from user to scientists, to build up a shared R&I vision and strategy in the Caribbean Region
- Specific objectives (SO):
- Map & diagnose R&I ecosystems (stakeholders; ecosystems strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; R&I priorities and strategies, etc.).
- Boost R&I brokering by bringing stakeholders to exchange and collaborate following open innovation and participatory approaches.
- Strengthening the regional strategy in R&I with a special focus on open innovation, and georisks and climate change.

Grant amount: €4,174,350 – Project duration: 48 months (March 2021 – February 2025)
Geographical scope: Applicants (legal entities) from the following OACPS Caribbean Countries are eligible to apply as Lead Applicant or Co-applicants: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago
Eligible Activities
- Mapping & Diagnosis of R&I Ecosystems (Month 1 – Month 6)
- Facilitating networking and open innovation (Month 1 till end)
- Final diagnosis/mapping of R&I ecosystems (few months before the end of GEOACT)
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic and research institutions/organizations; spin-off companies; VET providers; organizations representing indigenous and local communities; agencies and associations working for gender equality
- Types (legal entities)
- in research and innovation; national science, technology and innovation agencies; non-governmental organizations; innovation support organizations (technology clusters, innovation labs and technology transfer offices); incubators and start-ups; and other similar organizations with specific experience in the priority areas covered by this call.
- Consortium comprising at least 3 Applicants (including the Lead Applicant) established in the eligible countries listed above and from at least 2 different OACPS Caribbean countries: at least 1 academic and research institution/organisation and at least 2 other Co-applicants from 2 different types.
