The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is calling for proposals for Engaging the NGO for Piloting Blue Economy Components.
Objective
Overall objective of the project is “to improve economic stability, women’s empowerment, and local capacity for harnessing opportunities from blue economy contributing to local and national economic growth”.
Eligible Activities
UNDP is in a process of hiring a suitable NGO/CSO to implement part of the project in Cox’s Bazar with a component at the national level. This will be achieved through following interlinked activities:
- Identify and implement necessary interventions to promote seaweed-based products at the community level
- Select and training a group of learners for producing and marketing dry fish through creating a brand
- Train street food vendors on new food with hygiene standards
- Arrange a competition among young entrepreneurs on innovative product ideas targeted for tourists and nurture selected participants.
Expected Results and Deliverables
- A detailed workplan with financial and programmatic breakdowns to implement the entire project
- List of available and cultivable seaweeds with their availability in Cox’s Bazar and potential utilizations
- Group/Cooperative formed for dry fish processing enterprise
- A New brand created for dry fish products
- Facilities developed for dry fish processing (collecting, storing, cleaning, waste management, drying, packaging etc)
- Marketing channels for dry fish promotion identified and communicated
- Manual developed on seaweed product development and 20 entrepreneurs trained
- New street food identified, module developed, and 30 vendors trained
- New innovative products identified targeting tourists, training organized for potential entrepreneurs for those products and support 3 entrepreneurs for starting enterprise
- Cox’s Bazar Women’s Chamber of Commerce received institutional support to develop clothing entrepreneurship
Eligibility Criteria
- Business Licenses:
- Valid registration documents with NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh
- TIN and VAT Registration
- Latest Tax Clearance Certification
- Track Record:
- The NGO/CSO must have track record of minimum 5 years of working in development sector;
- At least 3 (three) years of experience in skills development/entrepreneurship development/job creation activities (Please share the relevant Contract/Agreement.)
- 3 years’ experience in community mobilization and training in Bangladesh (Please share the relevant Contract/Agreement.)
- List of clients along with the budget and name of the projects implemented in the last 5years
- Profile of the NGO (profile which should not exceed fifteen pages including any printed brochure relevant to the services being procured)- describing the nature of business, field of expertise, certifications, accreditations.
- Financial stability and liquidity: Last two years Audited Financial Statements – income statement and balance sheet to indicate its financial stability, liquidity, credit standing, and market reputation, etc.
- Written Self-Declaration that the company is not in the UN Security Council 1267/1989 List, UN Procurement Division List or Other UN Ineligibility List.
