The Waterloo Region Community Foundation is currently seeking applications for the Leland and Thora Vance Fund – Recreation Grants to provide and maintain recreational facilities to enhance the quality of life for the general population of Wingham, now and into the future.
Proposals are invited from organizations providing a public space for broad participation in community recreation activities including; sports, fitness, outdoor education, playgrounds, and trails.

What do they Fund?

Capital projects to develop or maintain public facilities for recreation in Wingham, Ontario. Here are some examples of possible eligible applications to help you as you consider applying:
- Building a playground, ball diamond, skate park or other outdoor recreational amenities
- Creating or maintaining of local nature trails and supporting signage
- Increased choice and access to healthy recreation activities – for example a community garden
- Updating or maintaining indoor recreation spaces
- Creating biking infrastructure and/or the purchase of bikes for a bike sharing program
- The purchase and installation of picnic tables in community parks
- Construction of gazebos or infrastructure for community gathering areas
What they do not fund?
- On-going operating expenses
- People-cost
- Programs or services
Eligibility Criteria

The types of organizations that can apply for funding include:
- Registered charitable organizations
- Qualified donees recognized by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- Organizations through a partnership with a fiscal partner
- This partnership allows WRCF to provide the fiscal partner with the funding on your behalf. If you plan to partner this way, they would be your organization’s “fiscal partner” for this funding.
Evaluation
- They are interested in hearing your stories, seeing videos/pictures, and having key learnings reporting of the grant. Please include these whenever possible.
- WRCF may also approach your organization to request stories of impact.
