The Regional Artist Development (RAD) is accepting applications for its Artist Residency x Earth Canvas Program.
It focuses on the development and mentoring of Regional Artists by providing recipients with a spacious studio environment in which to pursue their arts practice.
It offers artist support and mentoring by Gallery staff, while the civic environment will provide stimulus, energy and connection to other creative practitioners and community.
The studio is within the Gallery complex (E3) on the banks of the Wollundry Lagoon. It has perfect northern light, wet area facilities and air-conditioning.
Aims
- Wagga Wagga Art Gallery Regional Exhibition Program aims to:
- Support regional artist practice, development and exploration
- Facilitate a mentored experience for artists with WWAG Collections and Curatorial Staff
- Provide artists with critical attention to their work (as required and desired)
- Provide (by arrangement) access to WWAG Collections
- Assist regional artists to profile their practice
- Expand community access and understanding of artist practice
- Provide opportunities for artists to interact with the community (Open Studio by arrangement)
- Facilitate equity of access
Funding Information
- Regional NSW – regional artists welcome
- Stipend $2000 plus $500 towards food and accommodation is provided, to support access from artists from further afield
- This farm and studio residency is not suitable for arts practice involving ceramic/ glass firing, welding or heavy construction.
Eligibility Criteria
- They are currently seeking EOI’s from local arts practitioners for the RAD Residency Program 2023.
- The Gallery welcomes applications from early career artists (up to seven years post training).
- This opportunity will suit artists with a commitment to extend and develop their practice in a professional setting.
- Applications should demonstrate a cohesive project proposal with a considered concept that is relevant to the region.
