UN Women is pleased to announce a call for proposals on Promoting rural women and girls’ agency and voices at the local levels to accelerate rural women economic empowerment at Kusini and Kati districts in Kusini-Unguja Region in Zanzibar.
The CFP is to secure partnership with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) with a track record in human and women’s rights and gender equality, community and grassroots sensitization especially through various community engagements approaches.
Funding Information
- The budget range for this proposal should be 100,000.00 – 120,000.00
- A term of two-years starting date is November 2022 and completion of services is October 2024.
Results
- The selected NGO to develop and implement specific and practical interventions as per the outlined project results indicated below.
- Sensitize the community including male and family gender champions using various sensitisation tools to prevent economic violence and promote women’s access and ownership of productive resources to be able to engage in climate smart agriculture
- Promote interventions and strategies that address women’s disproportionate unpaid care work burden and the 5Rs (reduce, redistribute, and recognize, reward and represent unpaid care work).
- Establish mentoring services and an exchange programme between women’s groups and model women entrepreneurs.
- Provide rural women with TVET to develop skills for new employment opportunities and linkages to economic empowerment opportunities
- Rural women have increased access to gender-responsive financial and business development
- Establishment and promotion of a network of women leaders in various socio-economic committee to provide peer-to-peer support and learning exchange, and act as role models for other rural women in seaweed and horticulture value chains
- Promote positive masculinity by engaging men as religious and traditional leaders, chiefs, local authorities, and men in general to guarantee political and social recognition of the role of women
Eligibility Criteria
- UN Women is soliciting proposals from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Women’s organizations or entities are highly encouraged to apply.
- Technical/functional competencies required
- The selected institution must demonstrate in its technical proposal that it meets the following criteria:
- Having a legal status under the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania;
- Having a mandate and experiences of working with local government in the United Republic of Tanzania on issues related to gender equality including unpaid care and domestic work, the green and blue economy;
- Have experience on advocacy and community sensitization with governments, LGA as well as men and boys, and traditional leaders;
- Having experience on implementing interventions that address women’s unpaid care burden in agriculture sector;
- Having experience and capacity to coordinate networks, peer-to-peer learning and mentoring groups together with women groups and leaders at local level;
- Having experience working with financial institutions on economic rights;
- Having experience in promoting rural livelihoods particularly in seaweed value chain and horticulture;
- Having experience in social work and community development;
- Administrative capacity to handle and manage the financial and programme aspects of the expected assignments under Terms of Reference.
- The selected institution must demonstrate in its technical proposal that it meets the following criteria:
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
- Adoption of a rights-based approach in all its work;
- Establishment of strategic partnerships with key actors from the government at the local level, civil society, and community organizations including those promoting rights and perspective of women with disabilities, etc;
- Inclusive and multi-sectoral approach to transform gender norms at the community level;
- Establishment of strategic partnerships with the private sector particularly in seaweed value chain.
- Acceptance of the terms and conditions outlined in the template Partner Agreement
- Proponents must include an acceptance of the terms and conditions outlined in the template Partner Agreement or their reservation or objections thereto.
- Submission of any such reservations or objections does not mean that UN Women will automatically accept them should the proponent be selected as a Responsible Party.
- UN Women will evaluate any reservation or objection during its evaluation of the proposal and may accept or reject any such reservation or objection.
