Applications are now open for the Google.org Impact Challenge on Safety which is a €10m fund to support organisations across Europe that are working on challenges related to hate, extremism, and child safety, both online and offline.

By funding new and existing community projects across Europe, they hope to support initiatives to counter hate and extremism, and help young people to become confident digital citizens.

Funding Information

Each selected grantee receives funding between €50,000 and €1,000,000 and support from Google.

Eligibility Criteria

Application Criteria

  • Impact
    • How will the proposed project keep communities and families safer online, and to what extent? Or, how will the proposed project counter hate and extremism? Is the application grounded in research and data about the problem and the solution? How many people will be affected if successful and to what extent?
  • Feasibility
    • Does the team have a well-developed, realistic plan to execute on the proposal? Does the team have the right expertise and skills to execute on the proposal or have they identified the right partners and domain experts needed for implementation?
  • Innovation
    • What is the core insight or innovation that differentiates this project from others, in philosophy or execution? What makes the proposed project unique? How does the proposal leverage technology in a new and creative way to tackle the issue it seeks to address?
  • Scalability
    • If successful, how can this project scale beyond the initial proposal? Can it scale directly, serve as a model for other efforts, or advance the field?
