The Street Performance and Spectacle Project Award supports specific artistic projects in street performance and spectacle.
It focuses on enabling individual artists and organisations to bring their ideas to fruition and create excellent artistic work.
Objectives
- The purpose of the award is to support the production of ambitious, high-quality, professional street performance and spectacle initiatives that specifically deliver a presentation to, or an engagement with, an audience or public.
Types of Strands
- There are two strands in this award:
- Strand 1
- The objective of Strand 1 is to support the production of high-quality, professional street performance and spectacle projects that are new to both the artists involved and to audiences, to be presented along with project partners such as festivals, arts centres and local authorities.
- Strand 2
- This strand is a once-off addition to the Street Performance and Spectacle Project Award for 2026, and is open to artists and organisations with a demonstrable track record in delivering high-quality, ambitious street performance and spectacle presentations to audiences.
- This strand invites applications for the production and presentation of largescale street performance and spectacle productions that are ambitious, of high-quality, and will be presented free of cost to the public in partnership with local authorities.

Eligible Projects
- The Arts Council has identified the following types of projects as strategic priorities for support through this award:
- Projects that create opportunities for increased engagement in the arts by communities, and promote good practice in audience development and public engagement, including accessibility
- Projects that demonstrate the capacity to deliver ambitious work of high public impact and visibility
- Projects that reflect a strong relationship and/or level of investment between the artist/company and project partner(s), leading to highquality production values for the completed work
- Projects that present innovative artistic creations through highquality, cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Projects that have the potential to be enjoyed widely in our communities, public spaces (real and virtual), and in dedicated venues and centres across the country, especially offering a meaningful access to, and/or engagement with, the arts, and that reach new and diverse audiences.
Who can apply?
- The award is open to professional artists and organisations working in the areas of street performance and spectacle who are resident or based in Republic of Ireland.
- They may accept applications from applicants not resident in the Republic of Ireland.
Who cannot apply?
- Applicants who are not eligible to apply include the following:
- Organisations currently in receipt of funding under the following Arts Council programmes: Strategic Funding, Arts Centre Funding, Partnership Funding though the involvement of such organisations as partners is welcome.
- National Cultural Institutions (CNCI) (or their Council members) directly funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
- Individuals or organisations who do not have a demonstrable track record as professional artists or organisations.
