Are you a young changemaker ready to take your idea from concept to impact? The Social Shifters Global Innovation Challenge 2024 invites passionate individuals and teams from around the world to step up and take action for the planet, people, and purpose. This challenge is not just a competition—it’s a launchpad for youth-driven innovation and social entrepreneurship that aims to create real change in communities and across borders.
This unique opportunity is open to individuals aged 18 to 30 from any country. Whether you are working solo or as part of a team (with up to five members), you are welcome to apply. Each group must designate a ‘Team Leader’ to handle the application process. Importantly, all applications must be submitted in English, and the proposed ideas must align with at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative encourages applications at all stages—whether you’re nurturing an early idea or operating a fully developed project. Both non-profit and for-profit models are welcome, allowing flexibility and inclusivity across various approaches to social impact.
The benefits of joining this global challenge are transformative. Selected projects will receive grant funding between $1,000 and $10,000 USD, empowering young innovators to bring their ideas to life or scale existing efforts. This funding is a catalyst for growth, enabling teams to take bold, meaningful steps forward.
Beyond funding, the program offers personalized mentorship and coaching. Finalist teams will have access to experienced advisors who will provide one-on-one guidance, helping refine project strategies, strengthen proposals, and improve public speaking and pitching abilities. These sessions are designed to build confidence and clarity for high-stakes presentations.
Participants will also gain entry into a global community of support. The challenge offers a rich learning and networking experience, including e-learning modules, skills-building workshops, and chances to connect with other young innovators across continents. This community is a powerful space for collaboration, encouragement, and sharing of best practices.
For finalists, the recognition and exposure are equally valuable. Projects selected will be spotlighted alongside internationally respected organizations and brands. This visibility can lead to future partnerships, investor interest, and a stronger platform for your mission.
The application process begins with registration on the official Global Innovation Challenge platform. The team leader will initiate the process and can invite other members to join the digital workspace. Once registered, you’ll have access to the application form, which can be edited as many times as needed before the final deadline. All submissions must be completed by July 31, 2024, at 11:00 PM UTC.
After submission, each proposal will undergo a thorough evaluation based on its impact potential, creativity, feasibility, and ability to scale. Shortlisted applicants will be notified by email and will then move into the final phase, which includes coaching and pitch preparation.
In the final stage, the selected teams will present their proposals to a panel of expert judges during virtual pitch sessions. The judges will choose winners based on how well the proposals demonstrate innovation, sustainability, and a strong social mission. Winning projects will receive grant funding and the full backing of the Social Shifters community to begin or expand their implementation.
Important dates to keep in mind include the opening of submissions on May 27, 2024, with submission support available starting June 4, 2024. All applications must be submitted no later than July 31, 2024. Scoring of submissions will begin on September 16, with finalists announced by September 29. One-on-one coaching will commence on October 21, followed by finalist pitch presentations beginning November 18. Finally, grant award winners will be revealed on December 2, 2024.
