Nominations are open for International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) Awards 2017 with an aim to honour a deserving professional or colleague for one of their awards.
The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) represents a broad range of members with a singular focus — protecting the global food supply. Within the association, educators, government officials, microbiologists, food industry executives and quality control professionals are found who are involved in all aspects of growing, storing, transporting, processing and preparing all types of foods.
Working together, IAFP members, representing more than 50 countries, help the association achieve its mission through networking, educational programs, journals, career opportunities and numerous other resources.
The mission of IAFP is to provide food safety professionals worldwide with a forum to exchange information on protecting the food supply.
Award Categories
- Black Pearl Award: Presented in recognition of a company’s outstanding achievement in corporate excellence in food safety and quality.
- Fellows Award: Marble Plaque. Presented to Member(s) who have contributed to IAFP and its Affiliates with distinction over an extended period of time.
- President’s Lifetime Achievement Award: Given at the discretion of the IAFP President to recognize an individual who has made a lasting impact on “Advancing Food Safety Worldwide” through a lifetime of professional achievement in food protection.
- Honorary Life Membership Award: Plaque. The Honorary Life Membership Award recognizes IAFP members for their dedication to the high ideals and objectives of the International Association for Food Protection and for dedicated service to the Association.
- Harry Haverland Citation Award: Plaque and $2,500 Honorarium. Presented to an individual for years of devotion to the ideals and objectives of IAFP.
- Food Safety Innovation Award: Plaque and $2,500 Honorarium. Presented to an individual or organization for creating a new idea, practice, or product that has had a positive impact on food safety, thus, improving public health, and the quality of life.
- International Leadership Award: Plaque, $2,000 Honorarium and reimbursement to attend IAFP 2017. Presented to an individual for dedication to the high ideals and objectives of IAFP and for promotion of the mission of the Association in countries outside of the United States and Canada.
- GMA Food Safety Award: Plaque and $2,000 Honorarium. This Award alternates between individuals and groups or organizations. In 2017, the award will be presented to a group or organization for highly significant food safety development or in recognition of a long history of outstanding contributions to food safety.
- Frozen Food Foundation Freezing Research Award: Plaque and $2,000 Honorarium. Presented to an individual, group or organization for preeminence and outstanding contributions in research that impacts food safety attributes of freezing.
- Food Safety Magazine Distinguished Service: Food Safety Magazine is accepting award nominations directly for this award (which will be presented at IAFP 2017 in Tampa, Florida).
- Maurice Weber Laboratorian Award: Plaque and $2,000 Honorarium. Presented to an individual for outstanding contributions in the laboratory, recognizing a commitment to the development of innovative and practical analytical approaches in support of food safety.
- Larry Beuchat Young Researcher Award: Plaque and $2,000 Honorarium. Presented to a young researcher who has shown outstanding ability and professional promise in the early years of their career.
- Ewen C.D. Todd Control of Foodborne Illness Award: Plaque and $1,500 Honorarium. Presented to an individual for dedicated and exceptional contributions to the reduction of risks to foodborne illness.
- Sanitarian Award: Plaque and $1,500 Honorarium. Presented to an individual for outstanding service to the public, IAFP and the profession of the Sanitarian.
- Elmer Marth Educator Award: Plaque and $1,500 Honorarium. Presented to an individual for outstanding service to the public, IAFP and the arena of education in food safety and food protection.
- Harold Barnum Industry Award: Plaque and $1,500 Honorarium. Presented to an individual for outstanding service to the public, IAFP and the food industry.
- Student Travel Scholarship: Plaque and travel funds to attend the Annual Meeting of the International Association for Food Protection. IAFP recognizes that students from around the world are the future leaders in the field of food safety. Since 2004, the IAFP Foundation has been dedicated to enhancing the career potential of exceptional students through the annual IAFP Student Travel Scholarship Program.
