Do you have a story to tell about the challenges and triumphs experienced by the tens of millions of people who have been displaced by conflict and violence worldwide? Do you know someone who is refugee youth, aged 15-24 and had demonstrated leadership and a strong voice while working on behalf of other refugees? If your answer to all these questions is yes then nominate him/her for WRC’s Voices of Courage Awards 2017.
The Voices of Courage Awards are presented annually to resilient, resourceful individuals who have a personal and powerful story to tell about the challenges and triumphs experienced by the tens of millions of people who have been displaced by conflict and violence worldwide.
Voices of Courage Awardees represent the many faces and circumstances of the current global refugee population. Activities will culminate at WRC’s Voices of Courage Awards Luncheon in New York City on May 4, 2017, where awardees will be honored in person.
Award Information
WRC will provide a $5,000 grant to support the programs of the organizations each awardee represents or to an organization that they designate the award to go to.
Eligibility Criteria
WRC invite nominees who have channeled their talent and energy to become leaders working with and inspiring others to become part of a global solution to the refugee crisis. This outstanding individual must be:
- A current or former refugee youth, aged 15-24.
- A female or male who has demonstrated leadership and a strong voice while working on behalf of other refugees. For example: working towards improving the lives of other refugee youth or working to protect the rights of refugee girls.
- Nominated by other individuals or organizations. Self-nominations are not eligible.
