Wellcome Trust is inviting applicants for its Seed Awards in Humanities and Social Science, to provide flexible, responsive funding, enabling researchers to develop a novel idea to a position. They can support research in any field of the humanities and social sciences that can enrich understanding of human and animal health.
Areas of Interest
- The ethics of conducting biomedical research using social and digital media
- Surveillance and monitoring of online communities
- Accuracy, quality and ownership of online health data and information
- Individual autonomy and big data generalisations
- Intersectional justice and online health
- Public, non-profit and corporate use of online health information.
Funding Information
A Seed Award is typically in the range of £25,000 to £50,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Seed Awards are available to researchers at any career stage, single-discipline or multidisciplinary in approach, applying as individuals or groups. Proposals for discrete projects, with no follow-on plans, are ineligible.
- Applicants must be based in an institution or organisation the UK, the Republic of Ireland or a low-to-middle-income country. The project may have collaborators elsewhere in the world, but they will receive expenses indirectly through the Principal Applicant’s organisation.
