World Computer Exchange (WCE) is a 16-year old non-profit organization incorporated in the United States and Canada that provides capacity building, low-cost computers, content development, training trips, and computers for girls and local e-waste solutions.
It works to enhance the quality of education in the developing world and help increase the chances for youth, their families and community to overcome poverty, lead productive lives and contribute to the growth of their economies.
World Computer Exchange works with a mission to reduce the digital divide for youth in developing countries; to use our global network of partnerships to enhance communities in these countries; and to promote the reuse of electronic equipment and its ultimate disposal in an environmentally responsible manner.
World Computer Exchange ships donated refurbished desktop and laptop computers (as well as many other new and used items) to groups who choose to become our Partners. Partners can be NGOs, government ministries, schools, orphanages, libraries, youth centres, telecentres, universities & entrepreneurs. The WCE Board of Directors has approved 900 Partner organizations in 81 developing countries. Computers from WCE are for use in public settings to help connect more youth in developing countries to the Internet at low cost.
