Deadline: 02-Sep-2025
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is excited to partner with Kildarton Specialised Preschool and Carmona School on this studio project for professional artists.
They will support an artist/s to develop their arts practice with children with disabilities from two and a half to seven years of age. The artist/s will receive a monthly fee to support their practice, a materials budget, and a training stipend. They will offer an artist/s access to a studio in dlr Baths from late September 2025 for 12 months. It will give the artist/s the space and time to create their work.
They wish to support artists and children in the County to work together to create, to learn from each other and to explore what is possible. The partners will support the selected artist/s over the year.
An opportunity is available for professional artists with a multidisciplinary/visual arts practice to have access to a studio in dlr Baths for 12 months, starting in late September 2025. The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will cover the cost of rent and utilities for the studio. The studio is located on the lower ground floor of the dlr Baths building, has good natural light, two large sinks, storage lockers, and 24-hour access.
The selected artist or artists will receive a monthly fee of €2,000, a materials budget of €5,000, and €1,500 towards the cost of training or mentorship. The purpose of this opportunity is to allow the artists to create and learn with children aged two and a half to seven from Kildarton and Carmona School. The artists are expected to work with the children in their centers and at dlr Baths during the school year. They are also expected to offer opportunities for the wider community to engage with them at least twice a year and to create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming experience for the children and staff involved.
Applications are welcome from artists with experience creating art with children, especially those with disabilities, and artists who would like to work together. Applications from artists who represent the diversity of Irish society are also encouraged.
To apply, you need to include a CV, a statement of your ideas and starting point, a budget, examples of previous work, and the names and contact details of two referees. The deadline for applications is 1 pm, Tuesday, September 2, 2025. A selection panel will assess applications, and the minimum qualifying mark is 80.
