Deadline: 08-Dec-2025
The Shropshire Community Foundation is offering financial support through the “A Gift from Zac” Fund, created to assist children and young people up to the age of 21 who have been diagnosed with cancer.
This fund aims to ease some of the emotional and financial pressure families face by helping cover a range of essential and wellbeing-related needs linked to treatment and recovery. Support may include travel for medical care, respite activities, equipment, educational assistance, or palliative care—responding flexibly to each individual situation.
The grant is available to individuals and to organisations applying on behalf of eligible young people. Applications are welcomed from across Shropshire, including Telford & Wrekin, with consideration given in exceptional circumstances to those just outside the area. The fund prioritises meeting real, practical needs that improve a young person’s quality of life while undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment.
The fund offers grants ranging from £500 to £5,000, with amounts determined based on the applicant’s needs and the impact the support will have. There is no set formula for what the grant can cover, allowing applicants to clearly describe the challenges they are facing and how the requested support will make a difference.
Through “A Gift from Zac,” his legacy continues in a meaningful way—providing comfort, opportunity, and uplifting moments to children and young people living with cancer and their families.
