Deadline: 15-Jan-2026
The QCoal Foundation Community Spirit Grant Program supports the growth and wellbeing of regional and remote communities by funding local initiatives that contribute to stronger, healthier and more sustainable places to live.
The program is designed to help community organisations develop practical solutions that respond directly to local priorities and create long-term positive impact. By fostering collaboration between the QCoal Foundation and community-based organisations, the grants aim to empower local leadership and support communities in driving their own development.
The program focuses on three key priority areas. Projects that enhance liveability are encouraged, such as those that improve public spaces, social connection or cultural amenities that residents value. Initiatives that address health needs by improving access to healthcare services or promoting better health outcomes in remote regions are also welcomed. Additionally, the program supports education projects that strengthen access to learning opportunities and create pathways into meaningful employment. Applicants must clearly show how their proposed project aligns with at least one of these areas.
Grants of up to $2,000 are available. The grants are particularly suitable for short-term or one-off initiatives that reflect the aspirations of the local community and can deliver immediate benefit.
Applications are encouraged from not-for-profit organisations, particularly those with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. Community groups without DGR status may still be considered, and where appropriate, may be referred to donor partners for support. However, grants cannot be awarded to individuals, for-profit companies, or for projects associated with promoting religious or political beliefs. Funding is also not available to repay debts or cover contingencies.
Through this program, the QCoal Foundation continues its commitment to supporting resilient, inclusive and thriving regional and remote communities, helping them access resources and opportunities that strengthen their future.
