Deadline: 15-Jan-23
The APFSD Secretariat is organising an SDG Acceleration Pavilion for ESCAP Member States, UN agencies, international organisations and representatives from major groups and other stakeholders* from the Asia-Pacific region to showcase their initiatives and solutions for accelerating SDG implementation in the Asia-Pacific region.
(*Includes organizations for children and youth, women, indigenous peoples, farmers and fisherfolk, business and industry, scientific and technological community, workers and trade unions, persons with disabilities, ageing and the elderly, volunteers, local authorities, education and academic, urban poor, and other organizations)
The Forum provides a regional perspective on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by identifying regional trends, and sharing good practices and lessons learned. By convening United Nations system bodies, member States international organisations, civil society, and other stakeholders, the APFSD supports follow-up and review of progress on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the regional level. The reflections provided during the Forum will inform the 2023 High-level political forum in New York, which reviews sustainable development progress at the global level.
Themes
The theme of the 10th APFSD is aligned with the theme of the 2023 HLPF: “Accelerating the recovery from COVID-19 and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels in Asia and the Pacific” and will support an in-depth review of cluster of Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation); SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy); SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure); SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities); and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The 10th APFSD will be organized from 27-31 March 2023 at the UNCC building in Bangkok, Thailand.
Objectives
The objective of the SDG Acceleration Pavilion is to provide an informal space for member States, civil society, UN agencies and other stakeholders to share good practices for integrated and inclusive approaches for accelerated implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDG Acceleration Pavilion will take place from 27-31 March 2023 during the 10th annual Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) and provides an opportunity to network, share and create or strengthen partnerships with other stakeholders from the region participating in the APFSD who are also committed to the progress of sustainable development.
How does it Work?
Participants in the SDG Acceleration Pavilion are invited to share their knowledge products, audio-visual materials, and other means of information-sharing (in addition to posters, hand- outs, leaflets, booklets, publications) at designated booths in the exhibition venue in the ESCAP UNCC building, as well as during side events and networking sessions taking place during the 10th APFSD. They strongly encourage creative, interactive, and engaging exhibit proposals which showcase unique tools, innovations, and solutions for accelerating SDG implementation in the Asia-Pacific region.
