Applications open for “SPOTLIGHT TAIWAN” Project

Deadline: 30-Nov-2025

The Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture has launched a call for proposals for the 2026 “Spotlight Taiwan” Project.

The initiative is designed to foster international interest in Taiwan’s culture by building long-term partnerships with professional art and cultural organizations, universities, and media outlets across the globe. Through shared resources, the program aims to promote Taiwan’s contemporary arts, culture, and heritage while encouraging meaningful cultural dialogue.

The project invites applications from museums, art venues, cultural associations, research centers, universities, and international media agencies with strong influence and the capacity to mobilize public participation. Applicants who propose matching funds or who align their plans with the Ministry’s existing outreach programs will be given priority. By working together with overseas cultural offices and affiliated agencies, the program seeks to maximize visibility and impact.

The scope of cooperation is broad, covering performing and visual arts, cinema, literature, publishing, crafts, creative industries, cultural heritage, and community empowerment. Projects may take the form of exhibitions, performances, screenings, masterclasses, symposia, workshops, or interdisciplinary collaborations. Target audiences include both cultural professionals and the general public, with an emphasis on creative promotion strategies that harness digital platforms and social media for wider engagement.

Special consideration will be given to proposals that spotlight Taiwan’s cultural dynamism, highlight internationally recognized artists, or feature themes such as the intersection of technology and art. Proposals should demonstrate inclusivity, professional quality, sustainability, and the ability to establish enduring partnerships. Innovative marketing and strong community engagement strategies will also weigh heavily in the selection process.

Funding for approved projects will generally be capped at US$30,000. However, projects that are particularly significant, progressive, or involve extensive collaboration—including with Taiwan’s overseas representative offices—may exceed this limit. Applicants are expected to provide detailed plans for their proposed activities, target audiences, and potential collaborators, as well as guest lists if inviting Taiwanese artists.

Through the Spotlight Taiwan Project, the Ministry of Culture seeks to amplify Taiwan’s cultural presence on the global stage while creating sustainable frameworks for cultural exchange that can endure beyond a single funding cycle.
