Deadline: 15-Nov-2025
The Community Facilities Improvement Program offers grants to non-profit organizations that need to upgrade their existing facilities to ensure long-term sustainability.
The program supports improvements that strengthen community spaces and enhance their ability to serve the public. Eligible applicants can receive up to 75% of total project costs, with a maximum grant of $50,000 available per project.
Applications are open to Joint Stocks-registered Not-for-Profit Societies, Federally registered Charities or Not-for-Profit Corporations, and Mi’kmaw bands in Nova Scotia. All applicants must demonstrate that their facilities operate for the benefit of the community, promoting culture, inclusion, and diversity. To qualify, the applicant must either own the facility or hold a long-term lease of at least five years for the property where the improvements will be made.
The program excludes organizations that received funding from the same program in 2026, as well as private sector entities, government bodies, educational institutions, hospitals, individuals, and religious sanctuaries used solely for worship. However, improvements to community spaces within places of worship—such as church halls—may be considered if they are primarily used by eligible non-profit organizations. Legions, as well as sport, recreation, and fitness facilities, are also ineligible.
This initiative represents a valuable opportunity for community-focused organizations in Nova Scotia to invest in their infrastructure, enhance accessibility, and ensure their facilities continue to serve as inclusive, sustainable hubs for social and cultural engagement.
