Deadline: 15-Dec-2025
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council has launched its Partnership Engage Grant Program to provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector.
The 16 global challenges highlight key issues shaping Canada and the world today, including digital transformation, health and wellness, social isolation, inequality, gender inclusion, environmental adaptation, surveillance ethics, human advancement, biotechnology, sustainability, pollution, governance, security, truth and misinformation, the evolution of the arts, and shifting cultural narratives.
The Partnership Engage Grants aim to facilitate short-term partnerships that allow non-academic organizations and researchers to collaborate on addressing specific challenges or opportunities. Through approaches such as cross-sector co-creation of knowledge and partnered knowledge mobilization, these partnerships encourage innovation, capacity building, and broader impacts within and beyond academic settings.
SSHRC also supports joint initiatives with not-for-profit, private, and public sector organizations to promote training, research, and connection activities in alignment with its strategic objectives and mandate. Valued between $7,000 and $25,000 for a one-year duration, these grants enable the co-creation and mobilization of knowledge with immediate relevance to partner organizations.
Eligible applicants include Canadian postsecondary researchers, teams, and postdoctoral fellows affiliated with eligible institutions. The program emphasizes the importance of collaboration, ensuring that partner organizations—whether from the public, private, or not-for-profit sector—are independent and actively contribute through cash or in-kind support.
Projects are evaluated based on three key criteria: Challenge, Feasibility, and Capability. The assessment focuses on the research’s relevance to the partner organization, originality, potential impact, feasibility of objectives within the proposed timeline, partner involvement, and the expertise and track record of the applicants.
The deadline to apply for the Partnership Engage Grants is December 15, 2025.
