The ”la Caixa” Foundation has launched an open call for the La Rioja 2023 Social Projects.
The purpose of this call is to collaborate with social entities that develop their projects in La Rioja to promote initiatives aimed especially at people who are in a situation of social vulnerability and whose objective is to improve their quality of life and promote equal opportunities.
Likewise, this call pays special attention to the current situation of health crisis, economic, social and energetic, which is generating an increase in people in vulnerable situations and also a worsening in the intensity and/or complexity of the situations suffered by the most vulnerable people.
This call is framed within the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda of United Nations.
Areas and Lines of Action
- Through this call, it is intended to facilitate support for projects related to the promotion of personal autonomy, attention to aging, disability, disorder mental health and illness, as well as promoting the social inclusion of people in a situation and/or risk of social exclusion, with special attention to children, youth and their families. Also they want to promote actions for the social and labor insertion of vulnerable groups, promote citizen coexistence and social cohesion and promote focused social action projects, mainly, in the prevention of addictions, violence and the promotion of relationships egalitarian.
- The call includes seven areas of action:
- Old people
- In this area they want to promote projects that promote personal autonomy and well-being of the elderly, with special emphasis on strengthening relationships interpersonal relationships, in the fight against unwanted loneliness and in the prevention and intervention in situations of fragility and vulnerability.
- lines of action
- Promotion of personal autonomy and prevention of frailty and its effects
- Prevention and intervention in situations of unwanted loneliness and social isolation and/or digital
- Detection and intervention in situations of special vulnerability of the elderly.
- People with disabilities or mental disorder
- In this area, they want to prioritize the accompaniment of people with disabilities or mental disorders, promoting actions of empowerment, promotion of personal autonomy and support for activities of daily living, including the improvement of skills for social and digital inclusion. Prevention and intervention in situations of loneliness are also contemplated.

- Residential resources for people with disabilities or mental disorders
- Health and sickness
- The purpose of this area is to promote socio-health care and psychosocial support projects that promote the quality and humanization of care, with the aim of guaranteeing greater well-being for people and their families when they are in a situation of illness or in the process of recovering from its consequences.
- lines of action
- Socio-health care and/or psychosocial support for people in a situation of illness and their family members, including attention to possible sequelae
- Socio-sanitary care and psychosocial support for people at the end of their lives and/or in palliative care
- Residential resources for sick people and/or their families
- Poverty and social inclusion
- This area has a double purpose: firstly, to help break the cycle of poverty and its chronicity, empowering childhood and adolescence and empowering the family as the axis of socio-educational action and, secondly, promote projects that facilitate comprehensive development and the process of social inclusion of people in vulnerable situations, promoting their capabilities and facilitating new opportunities.
- They want to highlight the necessary support for adolescents and young people between the ages of 16 and 20, who find themselves in a moment of greater vulnerability at the end of compulsory education.

- Support for people in a situation or at risk of poverty and/or exclusion
- Residential resources for young people and adults in the process of social inclusion.
- Social and labor insertion
- In this area, the aim is to facilitate social and labor insertion and the improvement of the training and insertion itineraries of the groups that are most difficult to adapt to the labor market, promoting projects aimed at vulnerable young people, people with disabilities or mental disorders, people over 50 years of age, women without work experience, migrants and people in a situation or at risk of social exclusion.

- Training to improve the employability of people with disabilities or mental disorders and vulnerable groups
- Support to the labor insertion processes to the ordinary company, as well as to the promotion of the self-employment
- Accompaniment to people in the context of insertion companies and special centers employment
- Coexistence and interculturality
- The purpose of this area is to contribute to the construction of a more diverse and inclusive, promoting social intervention projects to improve intercultural citizen coexistence and social cohesion.

- Participatory community processes that promote respect and the cultural values of the community
- Management of sociocultural diversity and community mediation
- Social action
- The tensions generated by the successive crises have caused an increase in social conflict. The reflection of this conflict is evident in the behaviors of use of violence (gender, intrafamily, in the form of bullying), the deterioration of mental health and addictions.

Funding Information
- The projects that are present at this call can request help for an upfront amount €50,000.
- The requested amount must be linked to the execution of a project with a duration of up to 12 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- The entities that can apply to the call are:
- Non-profit entities.
- Entities of the social economy that, whether or not they are for profit, among the purposes indicated in their statutes, explicitly state social interest or social cohesion as their main objective.
- Public administrations are excluded from this call.
- These entities must be registered in the corresponding administrative registry and be domiciled in this community.
- This year, entities and delegations with a current agreement may be presented in the 2022 Calls for Social Projects. To do this, they must justify having made an expense equivalent to 50% of the aid and present a report on the status of the project.
Valuation Criteria
- The projects must be aligned with the main objective of the call and, therefore, they should be initiatives aimed especially at people who are in a situation of social vulnerability and whose objective is social inclusion, the promotion of equality of opportunities and improve their quality of life.
- In general, it is valued that the projects include:
- Collaboration in the territory through networking between entities and/or relationships intersectoral (public-private) based on complementarity and cooperation to offer the best person-centered accompaniment
- Participatory community processes that promote the participation of people and the community in the design, implementation and evaluation of the project itself
