The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) is now accepting applications for its latest round of funding to support community-based initiatives that promote environmental protection, sustainable development, and local empowerment across the Solomon Islands.
The focus areas of this call include protecting ecosystems and endangered species, promoting sustainable agriculture, fisheries, and food security, advancing renewable energy and off-grid solutions, improving waste and chemical management, supporting urban and community innovations, and promoting inclusion and knowledge sharing.
Each selected project may receive funding of up to USD 75,000 to implement community-driven solutions that align with the GEF’s commitment to environmental sustainability and social inclusion
Eligible applicants include community-based organizations, Indigenous groups, women’s and youth groups, and non-governmental organizations, particularly those working in remote and rural areas. The programme encourages applications from local entities with innovative ideas that contribute to nature conservation, clean energy access, and sustainable livelihoods.
