Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Yarra Ranges Council has opened its Monthly Grants program to not-for-profit groups aiming to strengthen their communities through local projects.
Eligible applicants can request between AUD $250 and $1,500 per financial year, combining in-kind support and cash grants up to the maximum amount. Groups may submit more than one project across the year, so long as the total requested doesn’t exceed the annual cap. It’s important that projects have not already taken place by the time of application—retrospective funding isn’t permitted—and ideally, applicants submit several months ahead of their event or activity.
Projects are considered in categories such as community connectivity and vibrancy, not-for-profit business and trader groups, youth pathways, youth sports participation, and in-kind support (venue hire, waste management). Each category has its own criteria about location, eligibility, and required documentation. Organisations must be not-for-profit or charitable; unincorporated groups can apply if auspiced by an eligible organisation. Projects must deliver outcomes in the Yarra Ranges area, meet insurance and permit requirements, and have cleared any previous grant reporting or obligations.
The Monthly Grants program avoids funding ongoing salaries or core operational costs, major building or facility works, religious or party-political activities, or events happening outside the municipality (except in specific youth categories). It aims instead to support smaller-scale initiatives that bring community groups together, build new connections, enhance local wellbeing, and encourage participation.
This is a valuable opportunity for local volunteer-led groups and small non-profit organizations in Yarra Ranges to access flexible funding. Whether you’re running an event, purchasing minor equipment, or launching a community activity, this grant offers support to turn ideas into impact.
