The Community Capital Project Grant offers a maximum contribution of $2,500 for small-scale improvements or expansions of cultural, social, heritage, or recreation facilities. This funding helps enhance community infrastructure while excluding items that individuals or groups could reasonably purchase themselves.
For groups dedicated to public safety, the Public Safety Grant provides up to $7,500. This funding supports registered non-profit organisations that contribute to the safety and wellbeing of residents across the municipality, ensuring that communities remain secure and prepared.
The Community Recreation Program Grant, with a maximum contribution of $1,000, supports ongoing recreation programs that are open to everyone. These programs are recognised by the Council as providing significant value and helping residents lead active, connected lives.
To celebrate community spirit, the Community Event Grant offers up to $1,000 for events that hold cultural, social, or recreational significance. These grants make it possible to host gatherings that strengthen local pride and participation.
For larger occasions that attract visitors from outside the municipality, the Special Events Operations and Promotion Grant provides up to $5,000. This program helps fund events that build community relationships, support cultural expression, boost tourism, and enhance the local economy.
Leadership development is also encouraged through the Leadership Grant, which provides up to $1,000 for recreation groups to access supervision, training, or leadership development opportunities. This support strengthens community organisations by enhancing the skills and capacity of their members.
Outdoor enthusiasts and trail organisations can benefit from the Community Trail Funding Program, which provides up to $2,500 to maintain and develop trails for public use. This helps ensure that residents and visitors continue to enjoy safe, accessible recreational spaces.
The Major Capital Project Grant supports large-scale facility upgrades or expansions for cultural, social, heritage, or recreation purposes. These projects help improve the infrastructure that underpins community activity and engagement.
The Recreation Facility Capital Investment Projects Grant offers significant support of up to $50,000 for the development or enhancement of not-for-profit recreation facilities. These projects are partnerships with the municipality, with the Regional Municipality contributing up to fifty percent of the total project cost.
In addition to financial assistance, the municipality also provides In-Kind Contributions, which include the use of municipal facilities, materials, or other resources. This form of support helps reduce costs for community organisations and ensures they have the tools needed to deliver successful programs and events.
Together, these grants form a comprehensive support network for community development, recreation, safety, and engagement across the West Hants region, ensuring that local initiatives continue to thrive and contribute to a vibrant, connected community.
