The National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Midwest, invites applications for the Shakespeare in American Communities: Schools program to support theater companies in bringing professional performances and educational experiences to students across the nation.
The Shakespeare in American Communities: Schools program provides funding to non-profit professional theater companies that are dedicated to engaging middle and high school students with the works of William Shakespeare. Through live performances and related educational activities, the program seeks to make Shakespeare’s plays accessible and meaningful to young audiences, helping them experience the richness of language, emotion, and storytelling. Shakespeare in American Communities is a theater program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Grants of $15,000 – $25,000 will support performances and related educational activities for students.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) non-profit professional theater companies located within the United States or Native Nations that share this geography. Organizations applying must have at least two years of experience delivering professional performances and educational programs to schools.
The program continues to build on its long-standing tradition of connecting students with classic literature and live theater, nurturing creativity, cultural understanding, and appreciation for the arts in communities across the country.
