Deadline: 16-November-2025
The British Council’s gender work in South Asia aims to raise awareness and change perceptions of gender norms, build the capacity of arts organisations to address gender issues, amplify women’s voices in civic and artistic life, and foster partnerships promoting equality.
Applicants are encouraged to explore gender in Bangladeshi society through perspectives such as film and media aesthetics, gender and the climate emergency, and STE(A)M disciplines.
The WOW Commission will support projects that explore gender in society through diverse art forms, with the possibility of presentation at WOW Chapter events in Chattogram, Dhaka, Rajshahi, or Sylhet in 2026.
Eligible applicants include individual artists, arts collaboratives, and institutions based in Bangladesh or the UK with the capacity to produce and present work in Bangladesh within the given timeframe.
Proposals for music albums, film production, or research-only projects that will not culminate in public presentation before 30 September 2026 are not eligible. However, the programme welcomes cross-art form and cross-disciplinary projects that bridge arts with other fields such as robotics, geology, or botany.
Eligible disciplines include architecture, design and fashion, creative technology, literature, music, theatre and dance, and visual arts.
Applications will be evaluated based on five criteria: quality and artistic or creative approach, feasibility and project management, audience and participant engagement and impact, equality, diversity and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Projects must reflect artistic insight, demonstrate realistic planning and budgeting, clearly define target audiences, and commit to diversity and sustainability in both design and execution.
