BST Call for Proposals: Supporting Civic Initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe

Deadline: 1 October 2017

Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation (BST) has launched a call for proposals to support civic initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe meant to bolster civil society, democratic processes and citizen involvement in decision making, as well as to address some of the obstacles in further democratic development of the region.

Projects should be initiated by civil society organizations legally registered in one of the following countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Slovenia. The involvement of additional partners, especially those from the wider Black Sea area and Western Balkans, is possible and welcome.

Project Areas

  • Fostering dialogue between citizens, groups and public institutions. Locally based projects or those connecting various geographies are welcome. Projects partnering capital-based organizations and those outside of the capital are preferred. Projects should prove a substantial involvement of all partners.
  • Combating xenophobia, islamophobia and anti-Semitism. Projects involving one or several partners are preferred.
  • Advancing media and information literacy. Projects connecting these to influence of foreign actors in the region are welcome.
  • Support to civic initiatives of young people. Projects submitted by groups of young people (under 35) are preferred.

Projects should be exemplary, make use of innovative outreach means and have a realistic and economical budget calculation.

Funding Information

The average grant will be $24,999 USD. Multilateral projects may exceed that amount in exceptional cases.
