Open Call: WD2026 Media Scholarship Program

Science and Data Journalism - Launch Grants

Deadline: 15-Oct-2025

The Women Deliver is offering Media Scholarships for journalists and content creators worldwide, especially those who may not otherwise be able to attend and report.

The Women Deliver 2026 Conference (WD2026) will take place from 27–30 April 2026 in Narrm (Melbourne), Australia, bringing together feminists, First Nations leaders, and advocates from across the Oceanic Pacific and the world.

Priority will be given to media and content creators with a demonstrated focus on gender equality, health, human rights, climate justice, development, or Oceanic Pacific issues; First Nations and Indigenous journalists and creators; LGBTQIA+ people, persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons and refugees, and those from under-resourced communities; and early-career journalists/creators and applicants who have not previously received a ‘Women Deliver Conference Scholarship.’

The scholarship offers comprehensive support, covering full conference registration, hotel accommodation during the event, roundtrip economy airfare, visa fees and related costs, per diems for local transportation and meals, and travel insurance.

Media Scholarships are open globally to working media professionals, including reporters, editors, producers, presenters or anchors, photojournalists, videographers, broadcast teams, podcast and radio journalists, newsroom social or visual teams, freelancers with a commissioning or assignment letter, and content creators who produce independent, factual coverage on social issues.

The selection process involves a thorough review by the WD2026 team in consultation with regional partners, with decisions based on evidence of professional journalism, recent relevant coverage, and alignment of the applicant’s outlet or audience with the themes of WD2026. Successful applicants will be informed via email by November 2025.

Scholarship recipients are expected to actively participate in WD2026 and related media briefings, including pre-event virtual sessions if required. They must publish or broadcast coverage, share links and clips with Women Deliver in a timely manner, and follow rules related to embargoes, on-site filming, photography, and room-specific guidance, as well as adhere to the WD2026 Code of Conduct.

Applications for media scholarships closes on 15 October 2025.
