Applications Open for HOPES Scholarships in Jordan!

The Higher and Further Education Opportunities & Perspectives for Syrians (HOPES) is seeking applications for the second intake of its scholarship program for refugees from Syria in Jordan in partnership with UNHCR’s Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative (DAFI).

HOPES Scholarship program for graduate studies funded by the EU ‘Madad’ Fund in Jordan.

The HOPES scholarship covers two years of post-graduate education (Master’s Degree). Extension to the second year is subject to the demonstration of satisfactory performance during the first year of the Master’s Degree program.

Benefits

  • Annual registration/tuition fees.
  • Living allowance covering basic expenses, such as food and local travel during the semester.

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be eligible for application, a candidate must:
    • be a refugee from Syria,
    • be under 32 years old,
    • hold a valid refugee permit issued by UNHCR,
    • have successfully completed a bachelor degree from a recognized university with at least a good average,
    • have no other financial means of support for obtaining the master’s degree, not be a current beneficiary of any other academic scholarships,
    • have a tentative acceptance letter from the GJU in case that he or she would like to study at this university.
  • Candidates already enrolled in master programs at Jordanian universities are also eligible to apply.
  • Women are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Pre-selected applicants will undergo six weeks of English language intensive courses previous to their master studies. This will enable them to pass the National English Language Exam and help them during their study. (These courses as well as transportation costs will be covered by HOPES.)
