Deadline: 03-Mar-2026
NordForsk’s International Joint Initiative funds interdisciplinary, international research leveraging disruptive technologies to address major global societal challenges. Projects must align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or other globally relevant challenges, involve multiple disciplines, and engage stakeholders across academia, industry, government, and communities. Funding of up to 17.1 MNOK per Nordic partner is available for projects lasting up to three years.
Overview of the Initiative
The NordForsk International Joint Initiative supports international, interdisciplinary, and transformative research projects that apply disruptive technologies to address significant societal challenges. The program encourages high-impact innovations that can replace or radically alter systems, processes, or behaviors, with potential localized or global effects.
Focus Areas and Sustainable Development Goals
Projects should address one or more of the 17 SDGs, including:
-
Poverty eradication and hunger elimination
-
Health and well-being
-
Quality education
-
Clean water and sanitation
-
Affordable and clean energy
-
Decent work and economic growth
-
Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
-
Reduced inequalities
-
Sustainable cities and communities
-
Responsible consumption and production
-
Climate action
