UN Women Invites Applications for Gender-Responsive Climate Action

The British Council and Korea Foundation (KF) is inviting creative projects that converge innovative arts, sciences and digital technologies to raise awareness and trigger a response to climate change.

The Council is look forward to your interest and support for this project to promote dialogue and cooperation between their two countries and to support more people to take action to tackle the common challenge of climate change.

This Korea-UK joint project, which was launched on the occasion of the 2021 P4G (solidarity for green growth and global goal 2030) Seoul summit and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26, Glasgow, UK), will be re-promoted in 2022 for bilateral cooperation.

Focus Areas
  • As set out in the briefing document, climate change is everyone’s responsibility and they all have a role to play, but they are also mindful that children and young people are the custodians of their future planet.
  • It is recommended to explore ways to engage all ages and generations while putting particular focus on young people aged 19 – 34.
Details
  • A project that seeks creative solutions to climate change by convergence of art, science, and digital technology
  • A project that fully demonstrates the mutual benefit of Korea and the UK in project planning, implementation and budgeting
  • Results of COP26, priorities of COP27, linkage with Paris Climate Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Priority for projects whose core proposals and ideas include the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (subtitles for the deaf, sign language translation, etc.)
  • Existing projects and programs that have been previously conducted cannot be supported. However, existing ideas that are in the pilot or prototyping stage and have not been publicly realized can be submitted.
  • All platforms/methods such as exhibitions, performances, and digital interactions in physical space are allowed for project results, but specific action plans and information must be presented. It must be confirmed that an agreement has been reached. In addition, the fact of support from the Korea Foundation and the British Council should be specified in the announcement and publicity of the project results.
Funding Information
  • Up to 70 million won (in Korean Won)

Duration: Planning, designing and realizing the project from July 2022 to the end of November 2022.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Individuals, organizations, and informal groups/networks are all eligible to apply, but the following requirements must be met.
  • Individuals, organizations, and institutions, including a representative Korean organization/institution in charge of granting and executing the grant and one UK resident.
  • A Korean representative organization/institution must be able to prove financial soundness and adherence to ethical standards.
  • All team members are required to reside in each country from the time of project application to the end of the project.
  • Signatures of all partner organizations (individuals) in the application must be included and jointly submitted
  • Unofficial groups/networks, including individuals and institutions, can also apply. However, experience in conducting similar, verifiable international projects or grant management experience is required.
