Deadline: 24-Nov-2025
The United Nations Development Programme is inviting qualified organizations to support climate resilience and sustainable land management efforts in southern Moldova.
The assignment focuses on developing practical agroforestry handbooks and delivering capacity-building training that responds to local environmental challenges and community needs. The initiative targets 12 localities across the southern region, selected for their vulnerability to land degradation and erosion, as well as their potential for ecological restoration through integrated land-use practices.
The selected organization will work under the guidance of the Project Manager to create two tailored handbooks. One will be directed toward medium and large landowners, offering practical guidance on sustainable agroforestry models suitable for areas such as Cahul, UTA Gagauzia, and the broader steppe zones. The second handbook will be adapted for small landowners, ensuring accessibility and relevance for farmers with limited land resources. Both publications will be grounded in local research, community consultations, and best practices in climate-smart land management.
In addition to developing the handbooks, the implementing partner will facilitate community engagement and validation processes. This includes consultations with landowners, local authorities, agricultural specialists, and community members to ensure that the proposed agroforestry approaches are practical, equitable, and aligned with local socio-economic realities. The capacity-building program will incorporate gender-sensitive methodologies, recognizing the important role of women in agriculture and natural resource management.
Eligible applicants must be legally registered organizations with demonstrated capacity to conduct research, develop technical guidance materials, and implement training activities. The call welcomes participation from micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, women- and youth-led organizations, and civil society groups. Applicants must confirm that they are not under suspension and are free from conflicts of interest or legal constraints that could hinder project delivery.
This assignment presents an opportunity to contribute to long-term environmental resilience and livelihood sustainability in a region already experiencing the impacts of climate change. Through practical knowledge-sharing and community-level support, the project aims to encourage wider adoption of agroforestry practices that can restore soil health, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen economic stability for rural households.
