The United Nations Human Settlements Programme is currently accepting applications to establish of Multi-functional Clean Energy Centre-MCEC, Integrated Resource Recovery Centre -IRRC & Lowcarbon Brick Training and Demonstration Centre under Harare Sustainable City Initiative (HSCI) in Harare, Zimbabwe.
This EOI seeks to identify a suitable implementing partner(s) to establish multi-functional clean energy centre’s, integrated resource recovery centre’s and a low-carbon brick training and demonstration centre to promote productive use of energy, sustainable waste management and production of low-carbon bricks in Harare, Zimbabwe. This call is open to non-profit organizations only i.e. CBOs, Local governments, NGOs or government agencies involved in sustainable waste management, energy access, green buildings etc
Objectives
- To promote sustainable waste to wealth practices in the greater Harare area
- To increase access to clean energy by the urban and peri urban poor in Harare; and
- To achieve energy and resource efficiencies in Zimbabwe’s built environment.
Funding Information
- Grant Amount: USD$1,610,000
- Lot 1: Establishment of Multi-Functional Clean Energy Centres at Mabvuku-Tafara and Epworth Sites
- USD$520,000
- Lot 2: Establishment of Integrated Resource Recovery Centres at Mabvuku, Showgrounds, Epworth & Highfield sites
- USD$810,000
- Lot 3: Establishment of a low-carbon brick training and demonstration centre at the Epworth site
- USD$280,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Applicants: Not for profit organizations i.e. International NGOs, foundations with presence in Zimbabwe
- Personnel: include key personnel with relevant work experience
- Required Competencies:
- Adherence to not-for-profit principles.
- Proven technical experience in Energy, waste management or low carbon building materials
- Proven experience in capacity building
