Atlantic Fellows is looking for leaders who have the courage and compassion to confront life-limiting disparities in health.
Fellows will be selected based on demonstrated commitment in the area of health equity and leadership potential. The program will build and support a group of global, multidisciplinary leaders equipped with the technical knowledge, skills and network to advance health equity in their organizations and communities. The program will select 10 fellows based in the U.S. and 10 fellows from outside the U.S. per year.
Objectives
- Know Disparities – Develop comprehensive knowledge of fundamental issues related to health disparities, including racism and inequity of opportunity in the health workforce.
- Combat Inequity – Study and apply strategic interventions to address inequities in health and health career opportunities that confront organizations, communities, and societies.
- Build Leaders – Build and leverage individual leadership skills to enhance personal effectiveness leading change in organizations and communities.
- Create a Network – Catalyze the growth of an international network of leaders, working in a broad array of organizations, committed to health equity in those organizations and the society beyond.
Elements
The program will:
- blend in-person and online learning to build comprehensive knowledge of national and global health disparities
- enhance fellows’ capability to address these disparities through exposure to content experts and visits to programs and institutions pioneering positive change
- provide personalized leadership training curriculum that emphasizes practical approaches to creating change
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals who:
- Want to become global leaders in the elimination of health disparities
- Are early to mid-career
- Are currently engaged in health-related work
- Are currently in leadership or a position that has potential for leadership
- Value diverse perspectives
- Enjoy working in groups
The Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity program is designed to bring together the many diverse industries and professions that influence health and well-being including, but not limited to: art, law, business, academia, government, journalism, social enterprise, research, media, housing, and health care delivery.
