The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Scholarship for Peace and Security in the OSCE area seeks to empower young professionals, in particular women, to engage in the security sector, especially the politico-military security field.
The course emphasizes conflict prevention, resolution, management and post-conflict rehabilitation; through arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation; towards confidence- and security-building in the OSCE area.
The OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security training programme for young professionals from all across the OSCE area encompasses 9-week online endeavour, hosted at the OSCE E-Learning Platform, with the focus on conflict prevention and resolution tools in the region.
Specifically, you will learn about international organizations active in the field of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation; politico-military confidence- and security-building measures; global and regional efforts towards non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and conventional weapons and ammunition; preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism; means of modern warfare; and other emerging threats to peace and security. No previously acquired knowledge on those subjects is required.
Scholarship Details
- The training programme consists of two components: a nine-week, inquiry-based online course starting on 29 May 2023 and a one-week, in-person course in Vienna (reserved for successful female graduates) in Autumn 2023.
- The Training Programme will be held in English and provide general orientation and knowledge about conflict prevention and resolution through arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, with a specific focus on the OSCE-related instruments, addressing the conflict cycle in the region.
- This course is dedicated to young professionals (22-32 years old), with a minimum Bachelor’s or equivalent University diploma obtained.
- The one-week in-person course in Vienna, reserved for selected female successful online graduates, is envisaged to take place in Autumn 2023.
- The online course will take place from 29 May to 28 July 2023 and it is designed to not interrupt full/part-time studies and/or work commitments.
